Eastern Vascular Society's 22nd Annual Meeting- September 18-20, 2008 ~ Boston, Massachusetts
Dear Members and Colleagues:
The EVS is excited about its 22nd Annual Meeting which will be held September 18-20, 2008, at the
Sheraton Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts.
Again this year we will have dedicated sessions on endovascular and emerging technologies each day of the
meeting and which will be integrated with the abstract presentations. Therefore the meeting will commence at
1:00 p .m. Thursday, September 18th.
Our Program Committee has developed a terrific educational program. This year, our Issues Panel on Friday
afternoon will be a session entitled, “Managing Expectations in Vascular Surgery”. Topics that will be discussed during the session include, information about the cultural competency requirements, expectations of the ABS; what are the expectations of general and vascular residents and how do these mesh with those of their Program Directors; Quality Measures and should they be Institution, Service or Provider specific; and the what the 21st Century surgeon expects of competence and quality.
The Program Committee also has confirmed plans for the Oral Poster Session. This session will be held during our Welcome Reception on Thursday evening, September 18th. Case Presentations and the Basic Science Parallel Sessions will be held on Saturday morning, as well as the Honorary Guest Lecture.
The Young Surgeons Committee also will be presenting awards for the best Junior Surgical Resident and a third year Medical Student presentations.
Also, the Society is pleased to offer the Vascular Interpretation Course again this year on Saturday afternoon.
Please invite your RVT’s, Nurses, Residents and Fellows to attend.
New this year is the development of a symposium on emerging technology for people with vascular disease.
Companies have been invited to discuss some of the new technology, instrumentation and treatments that are coming out. These presentations will be made during our Friday evening Reception which will feature tasting of different and quality Scotches. Following the Reception, all attendees are invited to the President’s Annual Dinner at historical Fenway Park.
The Young Surgeons Committee will continue to offer Mock Orals on Thursday, September 18, 2008 from
10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., for current fellows and recent graduates to assist them in their oral Board preparation.
Registration will be on a first come basis, and registrations will be limited. Preregistration is necessary in order
to ensure an adequate number of examiners. Please contact the Society by email at: evs@bostonbased.com no later than Monday, August 18, 2008.
The Sheraton Boston Hotel is in the heart of one of America’s most historic cities, centrally located in Boston’s
popular Back Bay and is just steps from some of the city’s most popular attractions including trendy Newbury
Street and Fenway Park.
Please make your plans to attend now. If you have not attended a meeting over the last three years, please be
reminded that attendance is a requirement for continued membership.
